Still, no one knew or expected Empire’sTaraji P. Henson to be in that number. In an excerpt from her memoir, Around The Way Girl, she opens up and reveals her abuse at the hands of her son’s father.

“The next thing I knew, Mark’s balled-up fist was coming straight for my face. I fell onto the bed crying and holding my mouth; blood seeped off my lips and across my teeth,” Henson writes in the book out Sunday. “Droplets splashed across my shoes … slowly creeping into the fibers of my suede boots.”

After she saw the blood pouring from her mouth, the Golden Globe winner says that she yelled at him: “This is over! Get your s–t and get out!”

In 2003, Johnson was murdered at age 34.

Henson, 46, says her late father, Boris, urged her to reconcile with her troubled ex — but she chose to protect herself and her young son.
